i sat outside and watched the sun come up this morning, like I do most mornings. when it comes over the top of the canyon, a breeze starts to blow through the eucalyptus trees. then the hoot owls stop hooting and the crickets stop chirping. there is a family of deer i see often. you know that expression "a deer in the headlights?" it's true. they freeze and just stare at you when they see you.
